Annabel Maguire is an artist, designer and researcher based in London. Her colourful, multidisciplinary practice explores themes of play, ritual and joy, whilst tackling wider issues such as sustainability and wellbeing. . Spanning exhibition as well as workshops and lectures, her work is playful and welcomes interaction through participation and co-design. Exploring how creativity might help us navigate and weather the crises we all face, both collectively and alone.
This year, her work was exhibited at the V&A, London Design Festival and St Paul’s Cathedral.
In March 2020, in response to the pandemic she co-founded the Scrub Hub movement, which empowered tens of thousands of craftspeople across the country to forge localised communities and sew much needed uniforms for NHS staff. Ultimately the movements work was shown at the V&A Dundee, and is now archived in the permanent collection at the Museum of Hackney.
Prior to this Annabel spent 8 years running collaborative set design partnership Studio Lune. Creating joyful, handmade work for fashion, music and advertising. Working with clients from Kenzo and Burberry to the BBC.
