Solid as a rock - a writing exercise

Bridget led a seminar today that helped us explore ways of writing. It was really helpful for me as I’ve mentioned I struggle a little to explain myself concisely through writing, and have dragged my feet a bit with my reflective journal as generating words from a blank page can leave me panicked. I learned to use voice to text was invaluable, as was the consideration that words are a material that we can sculpt and enjoy working with in our practice. I have been able to develop an easier, less anxiety inducing way of communicating that I will take forward, hopefully saving me time - which is particularly useful now that I’m using the CBT inspired routine / timing techniques for writing my blog posts once a day for 45 mins.
We were asked to explore the process that we’d gone through to make an object, and then afterwards explore our interpretation of the object through its contemporary context and cultural heritage. I really enjoyed doing this writing and although I think perhaps it’s a little bit long and maybe didn’t tick all the boxes, it gave me the confidence to go to town on detail to help me understand my own process, and to find what I enjoy in writing and making it work for me.
